If you drive or walk down Brocas Avenue (off Woodville Road) you may have noticed the colourful skateboard artwork installed at the entrance to the St Clair Skate Park.

In 2020 The City of Charles Sturt asked young people who live, study, work or play in the local area to submit a design or artwork for a skateboard deck for inclusion in this community art installation.

With skateboarding and art communities often influencing each other The City of Charles Sturt asked the entrants to transform the surface of the skateboard into a platform of expression.

Young people were asked to incorporate or interpret one of the following aspects related to the City of Charles Sturt in their design:

  • a sense of community
  • young people
  • culture and/or the environment.

Many of these artworks were produced by Woodville High School students from last year’s Year 8 -10 Art classes. There were over 90 artworks received from around the City of Charles Sturt with the vast majority coming from Woodville High School!

The top 24 were included in the art installation and the remaining designs will be used around the city.
