Generations in Jazz
What a fantastic weekend Our Woodville had at Generations in Jazz! 47 eager musicians from Our Woodville represented us with great professionalism and enthusiasm and had a ball of a time at the annual Jazz festival amongst around 6000 students from all over Australia.
Congratulations to Big Band, Senior Choir, Jazz Combo and Stage Band members who all performed incredibly well. Special mention goes to Jazz Combo who placed 3rd in their division as well as Declan for being selected for the Bass Trombone position in Super Band 2.
Well done all on your fantastic achievements as well as demonstrating perseverance and resilience throughout.
Big Sing on Broadway
At Our Woodville, we value the strength of community and emphasise the importance of community engagement amongst the students. Opportunities such as Big Sing McLaren Vale are immensely valuable for our students to immerse themselves and engage with the wider community beyond our school gates.
Our Woodville students from Boy’s Chamber Choir and Polyfonics were thrilled to be a part of the annual Big Sing at McLaren Vale. The massed choir of over 150 singers sung alongside the Norwood Symphony Orchestra and the blend of their voices with that of the orchestra soared through the performance hall. Students observed that different challenges were presented when singing with a live orchestra and worked hard to overcome them, a great testament to their perseverance and resilience. Well done to Boys Chamber Choir and Polyfonics!
Music Showcase
On Wednesday 96 students from 7 co-curricular music performance ensembles presented
our bi-ennial Music Showcase at Elder Hall. It was a wonderful evening showcasing the
talents of our music students under the expert leadership of the music staff. Students
performed in Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Prelude Strings, Woodville Strings, Senior
Choir, Big Band and Stage Band, and the night was led by our Music Student Leadership
team as comperes. It was a great experience for our students, performing in one of
Adelaide’s premier concert venues, and they showed great professionalism. It was also a
great opportunity to showcase the school and the music centre to invited guests, including
2025 special music students and their families. Thanks to all the music staff for their hard
work and dedication -Ben Fuller, Sandra McEvoy, Mitchell Bettison, Kerrie Polkinghorne,
Jakub Tengdahl, Celeste Wong and Ed Kriek
Music Video recording
One of the biggest projects this term was recording our annual music video project. This has encompassed two days at Wizard Tone Studios, along with two days filming at a variety of outdoor locations. This year’s project features our Senior Choir and our Studio Orchestra combined for an epic performance which will be released early Term 2. We are looking forward to presenting it to you!!
