Our Vietnamese Lion Dance program began as an extra-curricular opportunity to strengthen language learning while celebrating traditional Vietnamese culture. Open to students from Years 7-12, the group trained during recess and lunch, building teamwork, confidence, and cultural understanding.
Through our Continuing in Learning partnership with Woodville Gardens Primary School, students collaborated and performed together at the WHS Multicultural Assembly, Woodville Gardens Assembly, community festivals, and Lunar New Year celebrations, including major Vietnamese community events across South Australia.
This authentic learning experience aligns with the South Australian Curriculum and current Languages education priorities, connecting classroom learning with real-world community engagement. Beyond enrolment growth, students have developed stronger language skills, leadership, and a deeper sense of cultural pride.
