The week began with the launch of the Book Cover Design Competition, inviting students to create hand-drawn or painted covers inspired by the theme Adventure Awaits. The competition quickly became a highlight, attracting 42 creative entries from students across all year levels. The standard was exceptionally high, and judging was no easy task. After careful consideration of creativity, design, composition, and execution, the winning entry was awarded to Tyler Dunleavy (ND) for The Search for Tiger’s Treasure, with Aaliyah Shinakis (MJ) named Runner-Up for her sketch design Unwritten.

We had a fantastic response to the Scavenger Hunt, with around 25 students racing through the Learning Hub solving book-themed riddles that led them from clue to clue. Congratulations to our Year 10 winners, Yangzom Dorji, Ken Pham, and Jairus Belegal, who were first to crack all the codes correctly! Around 30 students participated in our VR Adventure Experiences, rotating through immersive sessions that took them on virtual journeys to Africa, outer space, and under the sea. Likewise, the Book Week Trivia event had plenty of healthy competition, with Year 9 students Shivani Kaur and Isabella Joffe taking out first place. We also saw strong engagement at the bookmark creation station, where students enthusiastically designed their own bookmarks, and tackled crosswords and word searches.

The week wrapped up in style with our annual Dress-Up Day Parade, where a record number of students and staff brought the Adventure Awaits theme to life through a colourful and creative range of costumes. The Learning Hub was packed with excited onlookers, cheering on nearly 100 participants as they paraded in front of our judging panel, Mr Grant and Ms Michas. After much deliberation, the award for Best Dressed Student went to Leo Little (JL) for his brilliant Big Bird costume, and to Angel Minks (SF) for an impressive Cruella de Vil ensemble. The award for Best Dressed Staff Member went to Mr Zavier Kuhl, who fully embraced the persona of Fred from Scooby-Doo. The enthusiasm and effort from all participants made it a fitting and fun conclusion to a wonderful week.

Thank you to all staff, students, and families who helped make this year’s events a vibrant celebration of literature.
