Transition to High School

In Week 4 we welcomed 75 Year 6 students from Kilkenny and Pennington Primary Schools to Our Woodville. The visiting students participated in the 2022 Taste of High School Program, experiencing a day in the life of a Year 7 student. Students were welcomed to the school in our Learning Hub then headed off to various ‘taster’ lessons throughout the school. Students participated in English, Science, Food Technologies and Health and Physical Education taster lessons, viewed a performance from our Special Interest Music Program students and got to try a variety of instruments.

We have welcomed over 400 Year 6 students to Our Woodville over the past term, showcasing our new Frank Schrippa Food Technology and Horticulture Centre, Visual Art and Design Facilities, Brian Marsland Health and Physical Education Centre. A big thank you to the teachers and school support staff who have contributed to the success of this program, hosting lessons, activities and performances outside of their usual teaching spaces.

Middle Years Assembly

On Friday 20 May students from the Middle School gathered at St Clair for the first live Middle School assembly we have been able to hold in 2022. For the Year 7 and 8 students this was their first face to face assembly since starting High School!

The theme of the assembly was ‘Opportunity’, linked to our school vision. Student and staff leaders spoke to the assembly about the myriad of opportunities available to them as members of the Woodville High School community.

Students were addressed by members of the student leadership team including Head Prefect Perry McDonald and Middle School Prefects Frankie and Yasmina. The student leaders unpacked elements of our strategic launchpad and spoke about what our school motto means to them. Student leaders also delivered some important reminders about uniform and our mobile phone policy. The Middle School were then treated to a world class performance by our Woodville High School Chamber Strings group.

We are all looking forward to the opportunity to our next formal assembly as a Middle Years community which will be held in Term 3.
