Aboda Festival
Our Specialist Music Staff and Students should be incredibly proud of their performances and ongoing achievements. At the recent ABODA Music Festival, our students achieved:
- String Ensemble: Silver Award in Intermediate String Ensemble
- Concert Band: Silver Award in Intermediate Concert Band
- Big Band: Silver Award in Intermediate Stage Band
- Stage Band: Silver Award in Advanced Stage Band
- Wind Ensemble: Gold Award and Overall Winners of Advanced Concert Band.
The Wind Ensemble also received the Bob Hower Memorial Award for the Best Concert Band.
These outstanding results are a credit to the students, to their conductors who direct their ensembles with such skill and precision and to the parents who support these wonderful partnerships.
Thank you to Paul Monaghan, Terry Bickley, Mitchell Bettison, Jakub Tengdahl, Kerrie Polkinghorne, Celeste Wong and Grace Joyce for their hard work and commitment to our music students and I congratulate them on the incredible overall results.
International students
We farewelled our short stay international students this week as they embark on their journey home. We thanked them for the beautiful memories that have been created together in such a short time. Old Scholars of Woodville High School, all around the world are one, in mind and heart. One of the things, which has characterised Our Woodville from the beginning, is a sense of openness to the world. This exchange, sharing of culture, tradition and language will transform the world for the good of all.
We are one Community that has a shared identity with the same values despite being thousands of kilometres away. Geographical distance and borders are no longer relevant to us as the students involved in this exchange program are developing the knowledge and skills to live and eventually work across cultural and national borders as global citizens.
A heart felt thank you for honouring us with your visit and we hope your experience is memorable. You have shared your heart, home and way of life with our students. You will always be in our hearts and minds and we wish you a safe journey back home to Japan, Vietnam and Italy. The School and your host families will treasure the memories you have created and we wish you all the success in your future academic endeavours.
Transitioning to EMS and Frog
The Term 3 student free day is scheduled for Friday 2 September (Week 6) and will be focused on Frog, our new Learner Management System. The Department for Education will be transitioning to a new Education Management System (EMS), which enables all systems within the school and across schools to compute with each other. Frog is a part of the EMS and will replace Daymap from the beginning of 2023. Staff are currently being trained by a Frog expert, Jane Logan, to ensure our curriculum, individual student achievement and progress, attendance and wellbeing data for each student is available to students and parents. Our strategy is to strengthen communication with families so that a strong partnership is developed and the appropriate support is provided to students. Frog is creating a connected school that will enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes for students through collaboration, inclusion and shared responsibility.
