Can you believe Term 4 is already coming to an end. For our Year 12 students, they have finished their exams and await their Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday 16th November at the Adelaide Town Hall and their final results. The Graduation Ceremony will be a great opportunity to celebrate the success of the class of 2021 and to highlight individual achievements with our subject awards, service awards and leadership awards. Year 11 students finished their formal lessons in Week 5 and will sit their exams throughout Week 6. Year 11 students will begin their Year 12 program in Week 7 in preparation for next year, when they will meet their Year 12 teachers and workshop various sessions. Year 10 students will finish at the end of Week 7 unless they return in Week 8 for the optional Australian Business Week, where students will engage in a short business innovation course, achieving 10 SACE credits for their successful completion. The assessment window for Year 8 and Year 9 students will close on Friday 26th November (Week 7) but students will continue in Week 8 and 9 with further learning programs and activities week, including the Year 8 and Year 9 camp.
Studiosity for the Senior Years
Studiosity is an online learning platform, connecting students in real-time with live experts to get writing feedback and 24/7 support with subject specific questions. The school has invested in a pilot program with Studiosity for all Year 10-12 students to support them with their study. The Year 12 launch of Studiosity occurred on Monday 30th August, and we launched for Year 10 and 11 students on the first day of Term 4. Students are now able to submit their written work into Studiosity for feedback, which is sent back to them within 24 hours. Students can also log into their account and ask an expert how to solve a problem or answer a question specific to the subject they are learning. The Studiosity expert will provide support until the query has been resolved. Over the next 12-months, we will track the usage of the learning platform and decide if it is worth pursuing in future years to support our students with their learning.
Year 7’s to high school in 2022
The school is continuing to plan for the new Year 7 cohort who will be welcomed to the school at the beginning of next year. The Year 7 transition to high school is being led by Sam Tuffnell (Yr7 to high school Assistant Principal), Alice Forster (Middle Years Assistant Principal) and Sandro Bracci (Student Services Assistant Principal). We are in regular communication with the teachers in our partnership primary schools to make sure we have everything in place to support the two cohorts of students transitioning to our school. The transition days for each cohort will occur in Week 8 with students engaging with activities to prepare them for high school. Students will also meet their Home Group teachers in preparation for Day 1 next year.
Braiding Project 2021
In Week 5, 100 students and 20 staff engaged in the annual Braiding Project, aimed at braiding the beliefs and values of our different belief groups from across the school. We welcomed seven panel members to the day who shared some of their beliefs and values before students engaged in a yarning circle to collaboratively share their beliefs, values and traditions with each other. At the end of the day, students collated their key words and terms into a word wall, which showed the braiding of the critical elements, aimed at supporting Woodville High School and its community to be a respectful and harmous school. Next year, a team of students will aim to share the braiding project learning to the broader school community.
