Music Showcase

On Wednesday June 19,  96 students from 7 co-curricular music performance ensembles presented our bi-ennial Music Showcase at Elder Hall. It was a wonderful evening showcasing the talents of our music students under the expert leadership of the music staff. Students performed in Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Prelude Strings, Woodville Strings, Senior Choir, Big Band and Stage Band, and the night was led by our Music Student Leadership team as comperes. It was a great experience for our students, performing in one of Adelaide’s premier concert venues, and they showed great professionalism. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the school and the music centre to invited guests, including 2025 special music students and their families. Thank-you to all the music staff for their hard work and leadership – Ben Fuller, Sandra McEvoy, Mitchell Bettison, Kerrie Polkinghorne, Jakub Tengdahl, Celeste Wong and Ed Kriek.

This project featured over 50 students and took 4 days of audio and video recording. The students experienced studio recording at Wizard Tone Studios and video filming at 4 locations around the state. If you haven’t seen it yet please check it on our music YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/@WHSSIMC2023. We are very excited that the composer of Baba Yetu, Christopher Tin has reposted our Instagram post.
