As we begin term 3, HPE students have been exploring new techniques and topics, hopefully motivated by the Olympics currently occurring in Paris. Of particular note are our Outdoor Education students, who have tested their skills at kayaking and sailing.

Our year 12 Outdoor Recreation and Sport Studies students were on West Lakes learning to sail as part of their practical exploration task. Being their first time in a sailboat was daunting, but they all rose to the occasion and by the end of the 2 days were tacking and jibing around a course, racing against the peers in their class.

The year 11 Outdoor Education class have spent 2 days kayaking in West Lakes and the Port River, learning how to paddle and control their kayaks, how exit the kayak in a capsize scenario and challenging themselves with a distance paddle despite the cold and foggy mornings!

Week 1:

  • Football Academy hosted John Pirie School as part of a Soccer Exchange
  • Year 10 Girls Knockout (lost 1-1 in Penalties to LeFevre High & lost 1-5 to St George)
  • Year 9/10 5v5 Zone Basketball Carnival (Boys & Girls Winners)

Week 2:

  • Year 11/12 Zone Volleyball Carnival (Boys 2nd, Girls 5th)
  • Inclusive Ed 5-a-side Carnival (Year 12 Football Academy students coaching)
  • Year 7/8 5-a-side Carnival (Boys Winners & Girls Winners)
  • Weekly Western Zone After School Sport begins (until week 10) – 3x Middle School Boys Basketball, 1 x Middle School Girls Netball & Senior Mixed Volleyball

Week 3:
