On Wednesday 18th August, the Special Music students from years 8-11 travelled to the Grainger Studio in Hindley Street, to watch a concert by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. This concert was the culmination of the Silos and Symphonies project, in which our year 11 music class were privileged to be invited to collaboratively compose a piece of music for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The students participated in 3 workshops with local Adelaide violinist and composer Belinda Gelhert, in which they came up with musical ideas and a story to thread throughout the piece. There were 2 other schools involved in the project, and this concert featured the premiere of all 3 pieces. The concert also featured other musical works, including classical pieces and film music.
